        Kindergarten Expectations

1st Grading Period:

1.      Recognize and print first name

2.      Understand sequence of events

3.      Print letters and words by copying

4.      Recognize likeness/differences in pictures

5.      Recognize basic shapes (circle, diamond, oval, rectangle, square, triangle)

6.      Recognize basic colors (black, blue, brown, green, orange, purple, red, yellow)

7.      Recognize and print #      0-10       

8.      Count objects to       10     

9.      Count by rote to       25      (count aloud)

10.     Recognize upper case letters (A-Z)  

11.     Identify introduced letter sounds (Mm, Tt, Aa)

 

2nd Grading Period:   (Students should know previous expectations, plus the following)

1.      Recognize last name

2.      Know left and right

3.      Recognize and print #         0-15    

4.      Count objects to       15     

5.      Count by rote to       50      (count aloud)

6.      Identify rhyming words

7.      Recognize upper and lower case letters (Aa-Zz)

8.      Identify introduced letter sounds  (Ss, Pp, Cc, Ii, Bb, Nn, Rr)

 

3rd Grading Period:    (Students should know previous expectations, plus the following)

1.      Print last name

2.      Recognize and print #         0-20    

3.      Count objects to       20     

4.      Count by rote to       75      (count aloud)

5.      Identify introduced letter sounds  (Dd, Ff, Kk, Oo, Hh, Ll, Gg, Ee)

6.      Recognize introduced sight words  (should know at least 25 of the 50 sight words)

7.      Addition using # 0-5

 

4th Grading Period:    (Students should know previous expectations, plus the following)

          1.      Count by rote to      100      (count aloud)

2.      Identify beginning and ending sounds of all consonant letters

3.      Recognize all sight and color words

4.      Tell time by the hour (12:00, 1:00, 2:00, etc.)

5.      Recognize money (penny, nickel, dime, quarter)
