Welcome To Our
Reading Goals Room.
Accelerated Reader

Students are to read 10 AR books each quarter to reach their AR goal. The AR goal is a different goal than the monthly Book It goal. These books must be in their required reading level and they must pass their AR test with an 80% or better. After they take and pass 10 AR test in their first reading level, they will continue to advance to higher and tougher levels.

Monthly Book Reports

Starting in September, students will be required to complete 1 book report over a specific genre.  At the beginning of each month students will learn about a genre and will be given a book report informational sheet with specific instructions about completing their book report and the date it is due in class.

Book Conferences

Students will discuss any book of their choice with me.  This conference will take place every other week.  The student will be asked general questions based on the book they are reading.  The student will be able to answer the questions easily no matter if they are at the beginning, the middle, or the end of the book.  They will be graded using a rubric based on their discussion with me.

Book It

Book It is a reading incentive program sponsored by Pizza Hut for students in grades K through six.  It motivates students to read more by rewarding them for their reading accomplishments.  The program starts in October and ends in March.  Each month the students will have a reading goal.  When they have met the goal they will be given a pizza award certificate for a free, one topping personal pan pizza.  On their first visit to Pizza Hut, they will also receive a Book It button a recognition sticker.

Congratulations to the following students for meeting their  Book It reading goal for the month of:
