Second Grade Title 1
The goal of the Title I program is to assist children in developing and expanding the reading skills taught in the classroom. Its purpose is to improve the educational opportunities of children by helping them to feel successful in the regular educational program, attain grade level proficiency, and improve achievement in basic learning skills.
At Tri-C we use My Sidewalks on Scott Foresman Reading Street, an Intensive Reading Intervention Program. It is a researched-based, small-group intervention that accelerates struggling readers through lessons focusing in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and text comprehension.Students meet daily for 40 minutes of instruction and activities in a small group setting. The reading themes are the same as the second grade reading program, so the vocabulary is familiar to students and reinforced daily.
