This block is the most traditional part of your child’s language arts instruction. The students learn and practice skills early in the week and are graded later in the week.  The Daily Fix-Its, spelling, and grammar are affiliated with our reading series.  Every week, our word study differs to strengthen vocabulary instruction. The current event presentation is given throughout the quarter as your child’s name is drawn.  An informational letter was sent home earlier, but I would be happy to provide another should you want one.  The rubric for this presentation is sent home with your child when his/her name is drawn a week before the scheduled presentation.  I am attaching an additional rubric for your knowledge now.

This portion of your child’s day consists of:

• interactive edit (Daily Fix-Its)

• word study (vocabulary)

• current event presentations (oral communication and listening skills)

• spelling

• grammar
