• Applications for the Florence A Cook Grant in Aid of $750 are available in
    the guidance office or online at www.deltakappagamma.org/IL under the
    "Service" and "Professional  Affairs" links.  Recipient must be a female,
    full-time incoming freshman entering the field of education, and a US
    citizen or legal resident.  Deadline:   January 5, 2010.

 

  • The Gates Millennium Scholars Program (GMS), funded by a grant from the Bill
    & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established in 1999 to provide outstanding,
    low income African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific
    Islander American*, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to
    complete an undergraduate college education in any discipline area of
    interest. Nomination materials must be submitted online before Monday,
    January 11, 2010 11:59 p.m. EST
    or postmarked on or before January 11, 2010.

  • Egyptian Electric will offer seven scholarships of $1,250 each to high
    school seniors through the Thomas H. Moore Illinois Electric Cooperatives
    (IEC) Memorial Scholarship Program
    .  Four scholarships will be awarded to
    students who are sons or daughters of an Illinois electric cooperative
    member receiving service from the cooperative.  A fifth scholarship will be
    awarded to a son or daughter of an Illinois electric cooperative employee.
    The sixth and seventh scholarships are reserved for students enrolling
    full-time at a two-year Illinois community college who are the sons or
    daughters of Illinois electric cooperative members, employees or directors.

  • The 2010 Young Authors Writing Contest is presented by Columbia College
    Chicago.  All high school students are invited to submit in Fiction,
    Creative Nonfiction & Playwriting.  First-, second-, and third-place winners
    in each category will receive a cash prize of $200, $100, and $50,
