  • The Southern Illinois Healthcare Scholarship Program brings together college scholarship money with hands-on work opportunities in southern Illinois for students pursuing degrees in healthcare.  Qualified applicants are eligible for money to cover tuition, lab fees, books and educational supplies.  Recipients will be required to sign a contractual work agreement, stating they will work for SIH after graduating from their healthcare discipline.  See a guidance counselor for more information.  Deadline:  May 1st of each year.

  • The Carterville American Legion Post 347 and Auxiliary is offering a $600 scholarship to a senior student from Carterville High School who will be attending John A. Logan College in the Fall of 2010.  The requirements for application are to print or type a one or two page report to cover the following:  future career goals, community and school service performed, grade point average, financial need, and “What Does Freedom Mean to Me?”  In addition, the student must provide documentation of a blood relative present or past military active duty in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard and a brief statement as to what that person did in the military.  Applications must be submitted to the guidance office by May 3, 2010.

     

  • Carterville High School Spanish/Foreign Language Club is pleased to announce it will award a scholarship to a graduating high school senior .  The scholarship will be given on the basis of 2-4 years of high school Foreign
    Language study, plans to continue the study of foreign language at the
    college level, academic record (GPA 3.5), and a 100-word essay  on goals
    regarding  the use of  a second-language in career, education and  future.

  • The men of Sigma Phi Epsilon at Murray State University will award several Balanced Man Scholarships.  The scholarships will go to male students who excel in the areas of scholarship, leadership, athletics, community service, and who exemplify the Balanced Man ideals of a sound mind and sound body.   • John A. Logan College Alumni and Friends Association is funding a $500
    scholarship to a deserving student that is enrolled full-time at JALC for
    the fall 2010 semester and is a paid Alumni and Friends Association Member
    or their dependent (Alumni Board and Foundation Board Members/Relatives are not eligible).  Students should complete the JALC Foundation Scholarship
    Application and write "Alumni and Friends Scholarship" across the top of the
    application if they specifically want to be considered.  This application
    can be found at www.jalc.edu/foundation/scholarshipinfo.php.  If they have
    already submitted an application, they can call the office at 985-3741 ext.
    8437 or email stacyholloway@jalc.edu requesting to be considered for the
    scholarship.  The deadline for submission of applications is May 28, 2010.
