The 15th annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards application is available online at http://www.spirit.prudential.com . Students in grades 5-12 who have taken part in community service activities over the last year should complete the application and sign and submit to a guidance counselor by November 1, 2011. The school will then nominate the top youth volunteer for state-level honors. This person will receive the President’s Volunteer Service Award and will become eligible to win an unrestricted award of $1,000 or more, a medallion, and a trip with a parent to Washington DC next spring.
Applications for the Elk's Most Valuable Student "MVS" Scholarship Award are available online at www.elks.org/enf/scholars under the link, "Most Valuable Student Scholarships." Applications can be filled in online and sent to a printer. Deadline for submission to the local lodge is November 2, 2011 and should be submitted directly to the Scholarship Chairman, Herrin Elks #1146, Herrin, IL.
