A Welcome From Mrs. Faulkner: Hi, I’m Kathy Faulkner and this quote from Benjamin Franklin is one of my favorites because it so appropriately bolsters the concept of physical education. I’ve had the privilege of teaching and coaching at CHS since 1977. I graduated from Zeigler-Royalton High School and SIU-Carbondale. I’m married to Mark, a golf professional (one of southern Illinois’ best!). We have two sons, Cory a lawyer practicing in Chicago, and Cameron, a sophomore in college, possibly following in his father’s footsteps. Over the past 33 years, I’ve coached gymnastics, track, and volleyball, and even helped the cheerleaders when they were down a coach. I’ve sponsored classes, helped make numerous floats, raised thousands of dollars in fund raisers – and can’t figure out where the time went! With only one year to go before (I can’t believe I’m saying the word!) retirement, I’ve had many memories to reflect upon while meeting some of our most cherished resources – our students. Many things have changed at CHS, but many of the aspects of the students and teaching remain the same. I’ve tried to stay active, be a positive role model, and share with my classes the joys that can come from making activity a part of one’s lifestyle, and NOT “just P.E.”!
ATTENTION!!! All former and current Faulknercizers get your Survival T-Shirts NOW! DEADLINE: APRIL 21 Did you “Faulknercize” during your high school P.E. days? Remember the dance moves, the kicks, and the SWEAT? Even if you didn’t keep up the workouts, you now have the chance to purchase an authentic “Faulknercize” shirt for just $15. Mrs. Kathy Faulkner will be retiring in 2010 and is celebrating with a dated shirt commemorating her years of teaching aerobics with her physical education classes (1980 – 2010) past and present. Proceeds, if there are any, will go to the Carterville Volleyball Team but, more importantly, the memories will hopefully be shared by many CHS alumni and present day students! You may get your name or the years you “Faulknercized” on the back for an additional $3.00.
