These are events that happened at CHS during the
2008-2009 school year:

 
May - June 2009
  • Nic R. and Chris S. place 1st in Business Presentations at FBLA State Conference.  They qualify for Nationals in Anaheim, CA.  Taylor R. place 6th in Cyber Safety and Abby B. placed 7th in Personal Finance.

March 27-28, 2009
  • CHS students, faculty, staff and community rally together in support and memory of Abbie Adams, daughter of Mrs. Jamie Adams, CHS chorus teacher.  $969.00 was raised during Abbie Adams Week.  A benefit dinner and special performance of the musical was held on March 29 with over $6,300.00 raised for the Adams family.

  • The 2009 WYSE Team places 1st at Sectionals and qualifies for State.

November 20-21, 2008
  • In the CHS mock election, CHS students elected John McCain and Sarah Palin, President and Vice President.  However, in the national presidential election, Barack Obama and Joe Biden are elected President and Vice President .
November 4, 2008
  • Lions Football team finishes 10-1 with a second round playoff defeat  by DuQuoin at Lions Field.

  • Marching Lions placed 2nd at the Drums at Appletime, 1st at Massac County Supercity Invitational, 2nd at Effingham Marching Hearts competitions, and 2nd at St. Genevieve, MO.  They have also participated in numerous parades and of course, play all of our home football games!  This year's theme was music from the Beatles.

  • The Girls' Golf team qualifies for state for the first time in many years.
    Natalie H. finishes 16th at State.
