"Come learn with us"

Message from Superintendent Tim Bleyer

Welcome to Carterville Community School District #5. We are happy to have you visiting our web site. It is our hope that this brief synopsis of our District, faculty, and students will answer some of your questions. If not, please feel free to contact us. Each year, I meet with several families interested in moving to our community. Their primary reason for selecting to live in our community is the quality of our school system. Feel free to browse through our web site and focus on our quality and caring staff and our outstanding student successes. We consider ourselves a blend of traditional values and a commitment to invoke new ideas that stimulate learning.

Our District is composed of three communities. They include Carterville, Cambria, and Crainville, thus the name of our new K through 4th grade facility, Tri-C Elementary School, located on West Grand Avenue. Our 5th - 8th grade facility is named Carterville Intermediate School and is located on School Street just northwest of the Carterville downtown area. The Carterville High School is located south of town on Division Street.

Each of our schools is comprised of a strong administrative team, highly qualified and dedicated staff, and most importantly, great kids. As superintendent, I feel extremely fortunate to be part of this outstanding educational organization.

If you are a prospective family looking for a quality educational experience for your child (children), you couldn't find a better place. I am always willing to meet to discuss in more detail what we have to offer.

As you learn more about our District, we appreciate and encourage your comments, suggestions, and input. We are committed to school improvement and working hard to do our very best.

Carterville Unit School District #5 News

  • Illinois has approved a sales tax holiday starting Aug. 6 and running through Aug. 15. During the holiday, the 5 percent state portion of sales taxes collected at retail registers will be waived;
    while local government sales taxes will continue to be collected.  Virtually all of the supplies that
    schools require children to have on the first day of school – paper, binders, pens, pencils, crayons,
    rulers, erasers, chalk, tape and glue – will be eligible for the reduced sales tax rate. Clothing that
    costs less than $100 per item, such as shoes, outerwear, uniforms, gloves, hats and mittens, is also eligible.  The sales tax holiday will not apply to some items such as computers (including peripherals
    and supplies such as ink, flash drives and cables), and items needed for afterschool activities.
    See the complete list of qualifying and non-qualifying items here.
