Mr. Tom Webb's Biography |
|
|
I feel about southern Illinois like non-native Texans feel about their home state. “I wasn’t born here, but came as fast as I could.” I enrolled at Southern Illinois University in 1998 and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education in 2000. After teaching for two years in my hometown of Ottawa, Illinois, I was quick to return. I married a native Carterville resident, Kelly Crain Webb who currently teaches Kindergarten at Tri-C Elementary. I was employed at Carterville Intermediate School in 2003 and taught fifth and sixth grade language arts. I immediately went back to SIU and graduated with a Master’s degree in Educational Administration in 2005. In the spring of 2008, I was hired as assistant principal and athletic director at CIS. The majority of my time sitting in the assistant principal chair is spent on student discipline. My personal goal is to ensure that all students have a safe environment conducive to learning. Rewards and consequences are given as a means to maintain positive behaviors and mold negative behaviors. This is a developmental time for all students and I take pride in working with students, teachers, and parents to meet the common goal of creating the most promising young adults possible. My wife and I have two small boys and enjoy traveling and spending time with friends and family. My personal hobbies include hiking, camping, climbing, and hunting. I always look forward to enjoying the outdoors and planning my next adventure. Feel free to call or email me at any time. Tom Webb 985-6411 twebb@cartervillelions.com
