Grammar Skills
Lessons from the Macmillan/McGraw Hill Language textbook will teach and reinforce grammar skills throughout the school year. Other resources will also be used. Students will study the 8 parts of speech and practice them in their daily oral and written communication.
Writing Skills
A variety of writing will occur in the 6th grade. Essay writing will include expository, persuasive, and narrative, with an emphasis being on persuasive and narrative. These two essays are tested on the ISAT. Poetry and creative writing will be developed, as well.
