My name is Monica Haake and this is my 17th
year teaching. I can’t believe that
after this year I will have 17 years of experience! It has gone by so fast. I am originally from Murphysboro and
graduated from SIU-C in 1993. I spent
the first 7 years of my teaching experience in Athens, IL. Athens is a small rural community just north
of Springfield. I started out teaching
6th and 7th grade math, language arts, and science. I got a chance to move back home in March of
2000, so we packed up the SUV and moved back south. I realized while living in Springfield that I
had always taken Southern Illinois for granted.
You never know how much you will miss a place until you move away! I was lucky enough to get this job in the
spring of 2000 and have been a Carterville Lion ever since!
My
husband and I now live in Carterville with our 2 boys, Alex (10), and Ben
(6).
