Upon our return from break, we have MUCH to do!

 

Pick solo/ensemble contest music

(contest 2/25)

Start working on possible organization contest music (and determine if we will participate!) (contest 3/24)

Technique playing test 3rd week of January

Begin working on F concert scale

1st note home w/ performance schedule

    Keep playing even while on break!

     

    Even if you don't do a lot of "practicing," play things that you enjoy & play your holiday tunes for family!

     

    Make-up or extra lessons may be scheduled on Fridays (when school is in session) as Mrs. Norrington is able.

    6th grade students that were in ACES last year are immediately enrolled. If you do not plan to participate, a parent should please contact me ASAP.

    5th grade ACES: 

    If you were in ACES at TRI-C last year, you should have or will soon be receiving a letter regarding

    re-assessment for the program.

     

    Students not previously in ACES:

    will need to be referred by his or her classroom teacher for testing.

     

    If new to the district

    Mrs. Norrington needs evidence that you were accepted into a program at your previous school or will need to be otherwise referred by your classroom teacher.

Jan This is a good time for us to review our individual strengths and weaknesses. We continue to learn new concepts & work to become stronger musicians
  • Contest decisions made

  • Distribute IMEA scale sheet to all students

  • Playing test: Technique

  • More focus on intonation and dynamics as an ensemble ~ stronger musicality!

  • Return to sight-singing practice and general music reading concepts.

  • 2-part singing focus(possible spring concert selections).

  • All:  Distribute science fair information

  • 5th grade:          Scientific Method

  • 6th grade: "real-life" math concepts

Feb
  • Continue working on individual and ensemble skills.

  • Students participating in IGSMA solo/ensemble contest will spend much focus on their selection. Contest 2/25 in Chester, IL

  • Begin trying full-band arrangements

  • Final determination for concert and contest selections on which to focus.

  • Playing test: F concert scale

  • Students participating in IGSMA solo/ensemble contest will spend much focus on their selection. Contest 2/25 in Chester, IL

Final decisions on music for Spring Concert.

Additional concepts to be determined.
