2.  Be respectful of yourself, your teacher, fellow classmates, and equipment.

Policies:

  • Students will be required to dress daily for physical education class. Students can wear navy shorts/sweatpants with their Carterville Physical Education Shirt. The shirts will be $5 each. Students may buy more than one. The same shirts will be used for high school. This also includes proper footwear for the activity we may be doing.

  • Students will also be graded on daily participation. Daily participation is a requirement!!  Students are required to participate from the time class starts to their dismissal from class. Refusal or lack of effort towards activity will lower the student’s grade. Extra credit opportunities and/or “make-up” days will be will be given to students throughout each quarter. In case of illness, a student who is well enough to attend school should be well enough to participate to the best of their ability. A parent note will be accepted for one day only. A doctor’s note must be obtained in cases of prolonged injuries or illness. The doctor’s note should include the length of time the student will be excused and the date in which the student can return.

    Grading Scale:

    1 No dress/participation=A
    2 No dresses/participations=B
    3 No dresses/participations=C
    4 No dresses/participations=D
    5 or more No dresses/participations=F

  • Students will also receive a conduct grade in physical education class. It is my expectation that students act responsibly in the locker room and during class time. If the situation arises where students aren’t behaving appropriate or they are creating distractions during class, actions will be taken (i.e. referral, after school detention, and/or lowering of their conduct grade.)

  • Student will be provided with a locker and lock to keep their physical education shirt, shorts/sweatpants, and tennis shoes in. It will be the students’ responsibility to ensure that their locker gets lock every time they leave the locker room. If at the end of the year, a student does not turn a lock in, that student will be responsible for payment of the lock to the school.

  • Gum, food, candy, and drinks are not allowed in the gymnasium at any time. Water is allowed. For safety reason, jewelry is not to be worn during P.E. Students should place jewelry in hall locker before class or keep jewelry locked up in their locker in the locker room.

·         Lionsquest
7th & 8th grade students also participate in a health related program called LionsQuest. This program will be provided to students every Tuesday from September to November during the scheduled physical education period. The LionsQuest teachers will explain the program and what the students will have to complete. The project (8th graders) and the test (7th graders) will be part of the health grade.
