Policies:

·         Students must come to physical education class with the appropriate footwear for indoor and outdoor activities. Students should keep an extra pair of shoes in their locker. Students will not be able to participate in daily activities if they don’t have proper footwear on and their grade will decrease accordingly:

0-3 days with no shoes=A
4-6 days with no shoes=B
7-9 days with no shoes=C
10 days with no shoes=D
11 or more days with no shoes=F

·         Student will also be graded daily on participation throughout the entire physical education time period. Daily participation is a requirement!!  Students are required to participate from the time class starts to their dismissal from class. Refusal or lack of effort towards activity will lower the student’s grade. A no-participation day will count the same as a student not having appropriate footwear.
In a case of illness, a student who is well enough to attend school should be well enough to participate to the best of their ability. A parent note will be accepted for one day only. A doctor’s note must be obtained in cases of prolonged injuries or illness. The doctor’s note should include the length of time the student will be excused and the date in which the student can return.

·         Gum, food, and candy are not allowed in P.E. at any time. Water is allowed.

·         For safety reason, jewelry is not to be worn during P.E. Students should place jewelry in hall locker before coming to P.E.

Students will participate in a program during P.E. called Marathon Miles. The purpose of this program is to encouraged students to build-up their cardio-vascular fitness levels. Students will need to complete 104 laps or 26.2 miles during the designated time period. If the goal is reached, students will be rewarded with a t-shirt.

Students will also be participating in a program called Fuel Up to Play 60. This program encourages students to get 60 minutes of activity everyday! Unfortunately, students only have 18 minutes of P.E., but are encouraged to be active at recess and at home. Students can communicate with me to think of ideas of different activities they can participate in during the school year!
