Dear Parents and Guardians: Starting Monday, April 27, Cardinal Road will be closed at Grand Ave and Cambria Road. You will not be able to travel west from Grand Ave onto Cardinal Rd. The afternoon routes for Bus 6 and Bus 9 will be delayed about 20 minutes. Please plan accordingly and allow for extra time for travel and student drop off/pick up.

Tonight was the Illinois Principals Association Shawnee Region's 36th Annual Student Recognition Dinner at SIUC. Mrs. Tyner and I were excited to honor Avery and Gabby. These girls truly represent the best of Team CIS.

Team CIS celebrated National Assistant Principal Day and our very own Mrs. Tyner. We had a surprise guest speaker this morning that shared the impact she has on our school and community. It was a powerful message and we are grateful for her leadership.

Good luck to the students that were nominated to participate in this year's ILMEA D6 Elementary Honor Festival at Mt. Vernon High School this weekend. They will rehearse three musical selections with students from all over our region then perform a concert that afternoon.

Each sixth grade homeroom nominated two students that exceed our expectations in the areas of academics, behavior, and character. CIS has been invited to a matinee of the Carterville High School musical. Due to the nature of the particular show, they are providing an abbreviated musical-revue-style performance. This will include the younger audience-friendly tunes and then some speaking time with the cast, crew, and pit. CIS will be attending on Thursday, March 26, from 9 - 10 am at the high school. We are asking students to bring $1 as a donation to the CHS Fine Arts Department.
