Please see this informational letter with directions to online registration that opens on Monday as well as upcoming dates. We are excited to serve our students and families as we kick off another school year. Go Lions!!!!


CIS Parents-
The office is now open from 8:00-3:00.
All new students to the district can come pick up a packet to register.
On-line registration for all students who were enrolled within Carterville Unit 5 will begin on 7/31. Directions will be emailed to you.
New Student Orientation for all 4th graders and new students to the district will be on Tuesday, 8/1 at 6:00 in the CIS gym.
Open House / Meet the Teacher will be on Monday, 8/7 from 5:30-6:30.
Student's first day will be on Tuesday, 8/8 from 8:00-11:25.
All Edukits that were ordered have been delivered and your child's school supplies will be waiting for them in their classroom.

Parents- Yearbooks arrived late and may be picked up at TriC starting on Tuesday between 7:30 - 3:00.


Congratulations to Kaysan Qureshi! He raised the most funds during our PTO trot fundraiser and was recognized today with gift cards from the City of Carterville. Thanks goes out to the Carterville PTO for organizing this event!


CIS ended the 22-23 school year with a bang! We would like to thank the Carterville PTO, Inflatable Fun, and all of our faculty and staff for making it happen. Wishing all of our students a safe and fun summer break!









CIS fifth grade hosted its very own Spelling Bee today. Each homeroom sent its top two finalists to the grade-level finals today. Congratulations to the Spelling Bee champion, Greenlee Zelasko!





It was a beautiful day for our 4th quarter PBIS reward picnic at Cannon Park. The new GaGa ball pit was a huge hit!

Congratulations to Mrs. Gooden on receiving the prestigious Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching! Mrs. Gooden is one of only 10 teacher award recipients in Illinois. Our PTO Trot Donation Drive is live and online. You can make donations by using the following link. Be sure to add your student's name in the notes so they can get credit for the donation. CIS is hosting the second Donut with a Grownup event on Thursday, April 27, from 7 - 8 a.m. Students are invited to bring an adult with them to breakfast before school.


CUSD #5 is holding a district-wide donation drive for the Carterville United Pantry. All schools will be collecting donations from May 1 - 5. CIS is responsible for canned meat & boxed dinner donations. A collection box will be set up in the gymnasium for students to place their donations.


CIS students will be raising money for our PTO Trot fundraiser, scheduled for May 5. The funds raised last year were used to purchase our new playground equipment, which is being installed next week! We will officially kick off our Trot fundraising on Monday during our morning meeting and ask that all pledges be donated by Friday, May 5. Please see the PTO flyer for more details.


CIS students took a "Trip to the Dip" to celebrate all of their hard work during IAR testing last week. We would like to thank Faith Wagner and her employees at the Downtown Dip for making this possible!




Sixth-grade students, Anna Hubbard and Cameron Dinga, were recognized last night at the IPA Student Recognition Dinner. Congratulations!


CIS sent several athletes to the Special Olympics today at Herrin High School. Our entire student body showed up to cheer on our athletes and wish them well!
